So, I know lots of families where one of the children has a genetic syndrome but that is because I work with these families doing my science. The syndromes I work with are really rare in the general population. Some syndromes I work with only happen in 1 in 17,000 people, so this is really rare. I wouldn’t know many people with syndromes if I didn’t do the science I do. However, lots of people might have syndromes which we don’t know about. It is okay though as it doesn’t affect them so they are fine! Some syndromes don’t hurt people at all and they can carry on doing what they do! Some other syndromes make a bigger difference to other peoples lives and they might need help.
