The heart is a big pump. It pumps round the blood which carries vital cells that help us live. There are the red blood cells that help carry oxygen around the body to keep all the cells alive. There are the white blood cells that help fight infection and there are platelets that help clot the blood- so you get scabs when you scrap your knee. It carries all these things and more around the body so that each cell gets everything it needs to keep alive.
