The thinnest I’ve ever made is 3 nm (nano-meter is 1,000,000,000 smaller then a meter). this was some gold on some glass. This gold was the thinnest we have done and we use a small needle to run over the surface to actually see how much we have. We use the this gold heated up to make nanoparticles (even smaller) to then go on to make small wires in our machines.
