• Question: Why are some planets made of rock and iron and others made of gas?

      Well, there is gas around our planet too… basically all the planets are made of mixtures of things. Whether they are gas or liquid or solid depends on the things they are made of and the temperature they are.

      actually, the cores of the gas giants, jupiter, saturn, etc. have a rocky iron core. The inner planets probably had outer gas as well but it was blown away by the Sun.

      All planets are made up of lots and lots of different things! Sometime some planets are made of different things from others. The Earth is different to Mars and Mars is different to Neptune!!!
