Someone found another space object beyond Pluto- it was larger then Pluto so he named it a planet. But is was so far away from the sun it caused there to be a big discussion with all the people who name planets as to what really defines a planet in our solar system. They decided that due to its size and location that it couldn’t really be defined as a planet so they decided it was a dwarf planet. The planet itself didn’t change only the title that us humans gave it.

Because, it is small. 🙂 I guess we named it as a planet first and by the times we came up with some main rules re being a planet, Pluto couldn’t tick some of those boxes. Hence they decided to call it a dwarf planet because it was small, mainly 🙂

There’s also some discussion around it’s orbit, which is very irregular compared to the other planets.
