It’s an interesting question. There are so many things about birth that are difficult or dangerous… like the pain, for example!
But actually, the more we understand about the natural birthing process, the better parent’s birthing experience becomes. Unfortunately, this understaning is not yet widespread among health professionals… but special people called Doulas can help the parents have a good experience, even if they have to give bitrh in hospital.
My friend Holly is a Doula and she’s awesome! She makes sure that women in labour have a nice quiet, dark, relaxing space, like an expectant mother would naturally choose for herself, and that the dad can also be part of the process undisturbed. (and she helps before and after birth too)
There’s a growing culture of appreciating the good things about giving brith, called the “positive birth movement”… but there are still many arguments about whether it’s best to give birth at hme on in hospital, and how much painkillers you should take, and whether to give birth lying down or in a pool, and so on… it’s a big topic!
But at the end of it all, you get a baby, and that’s the best thing in the world!

Also, the shared experience irreversibly changes your relationship with your partner for the better. (It did in our case anyway) that’s a pro
