Of course. I always wish I can complete my goals. I really want to be able to get my PhD (becoming a doctor of medicine) which is my main goal at the moment. Hopefully I will!! I then will be able to hopefully go and work wherever I want, or wherever they will take me! I always wish to fulfil my goals and that is what keeps me motivated everyday to do my work and study hard.

Oscar Wilde said “There are only two tragedies in life: one is not getting what one wants, and the other is getting it.” I don’t think it applies to scientific goals though.
But he also said “Make some sacrifice for your art and you will be repaid but ask of art to sacrifice herself for you and a bitter disappointment may come to you.” … I think this is more true of science. In general we do it for the achievement, the fun, the fascination, but not for the money.
