Great question! Day dreaming doesn’t make our brain go to sleep, but the activity in our brain does change. We are usually quite relaxed and unaware of things going on around us when we day dream . This means that our activity is different to when we are working and paying attention. We go into brain activity which is similar to drifting off to sleep, so your question is great! It is similar, yet we are very awake unless the daydream ends up becoming boring and making us nap! Our brains go a bit into standby – you know when you don’t fully switch off your tv, we can switch back on quickly if we need to.
