Great question. Maybe, yes. The thing with meditation is though that you need to have really really good concentration and attention. You need to be able to concentrate and understand why you are relaxing and concentrating. Some people with autism will find this really hard to stay in one place for a long time and understand that they need to relax. Others though might really benefit if they practise lots and lots and we explain it to them in a way they understand. Some people with autism have very very high IQ’s and are very intelligent. They might be interested in meditation, but they might also view it as boring. There is variety in autistic people just like people with autism. It’s a very good question. I am sure some people with autism might benefit, but others might not.

It is used to help reduce stress. Autistic people need to learna lot of tricks to dealing with the world around them, and meditation is one of the things that can help make the world more bearable.

Many autistic people naturally do a type of meditation to cope with stress… they use repetitive behaviours, which is a kind of meditative method, to help.
