Stem cells are very special cells that have the ability to turn into any cell type. The embryo, in the beginning of its life is full of stem cells! These cells slowly slowly divide and become different type of cells like nerve cells, muscle cells, skin cells, intestinal cells and many many more.
Some tissues have secret reserves of stem cells and when that tissue is damaged, they can use these stem cells to produce more specialised cells!

Neurons are nerve cells. They are responsible for carrying messages across our bodies. They are very special and fragile cells and they cannot repair themselves very well unfortunately.
