The kidney’s function is to get rid of some waste chemicals from the blood. It squeezes them out at very high in a solution, into a thing called a glomerulus!

But then it tries to recover water from what was squeezed out so you don’t get dehydrated. Most of the kidney is dedicated to recovering the water. This mean the stuff that was squeezed out, the urine, gets concentrated. This happens in things called loops.

The kidney works like a little filter to get rid of lots of waste and bad chemicals in the blood. It runs the blood through it and works out what we need to get rid of and what we need to keep. The kidney always try to keep water though as we need it!!! It does it very well. It also makes sure we get rid of things through our wee. The kidney has things in it called nephrons. They keep us going and keep us healthy!
