There are some very simple animals that do not need a heart and blood, because all their cells are so close to the nutrients they need.

The blood is used to take oxygen and nutrients to all the cells in your body. Without these they can’t survive. Your heart pumps it all round (you knew that already) For us not to have a heart and blood we’d need a different way for our cells to get what they need.

But if that was possible, then you’d never need to worry about heart attacks, leukaemia, malaria, stroke, and a bunch of other blood and heart diseases.

I am not sure really-even flies have hearts pumping blood to their bodies. Worms don’t, so I guess we would be like worms swirling around if we didnot need a heart and blood…

If I didn’t need a heart and blood, I could be a robot!! I would still have my brain but my brain needs my heart and blood too. Lots and lots of animals have hearts but some don’t need them. Maybe I could have an electronic heart which still interacts with my brain! I could be a bionic lady!!
