Many of our activities can be done ‘on autopilot’ including walking. Part of our brain wakes up and walks about while other parts are still asleep.

We don’t know exactly why people sleep walk. We do know that a lot of them time the sleep walking will be in a familiar place and doing automatic things. However, say you were at a hotel, and your weren’t familiar, you would still sleep walk. Someone might have a sleeping problem which means part of their brain increased in activity when it shouldn’t. Some people have been known to do some weird things whilst sleep walking like taking curtains down! Haha.
