0 Question: Why do you have to put salt in dishwashers? Keywords: dishwasher, salt Asked by syra kate to Chris, Hayley, Jimi on 17 Mar 2016.
Hayley Moulding answered on 17 Mar 2016:
Nice! The salt doesnt go into the dishwasher as otherwise we will have salty dishes. I think it is used to help the inside workings of the dishwasher work better. The ‘softener’ bit of the dishwasher needs to salt to make it work better.
Jimi Wills answered on 17 Mar 2016:
It helps stop the other salts from hard water getting depositied in the dishwater and scaling it up.
you can put it in a dishwater, because it gets rinsed away… but you can’t put it in your kettle, because you’d then have to drink salty coffee – yuck!
