Burst is the wrong word- it will get bigger. In about 5 billion years, the sun will run out of one of its fuels hydrogen. As this happens the helium will get compressed, speeding up the hydrogen burning. Then our sun will get bigger and turn into a red giant. As it does this it will engulf many of the plants near by. As the sun isn’t that big (in relation to other stars) some of the bits it hasn’t manged to burn will collect at the center. It will later shed lots of layers to create a hot white dwarf star. This is what we think will happen to our star looking at other.

The sun doesn’t have enough mass to explode, meaning it is not big enough. Billions years later it will start dimming its light off and puff! most likely anyways 🙂

However much much bigger stars explode and some of them can even disappear completely!

The sun might not burst, but one day it won’t be there anymore! Like all other stars and even planets, one day they won’t be there, BUT that is in BILLIONS of years, so don’t worry!

The sun will eventually become a red giant, and then it will shrink again and become a white dwarf.

Our sun would only explode if something big flew into it…

In a way it will — in about 5 billion years it will become a red giant and will get much much bigger losing much of its mass. It will then become a white dwarf. However, it will not blow up like a supernova, that only happens for the most massive stars.
